Tobi Oluwayemi: Former Spurs Goalkeeper Could Spearhead Celtic Reset

If you weren’t paying attention in the summer of 2019, Celtic signed a young lad from Spurs on a three-year deal; his name, Tobi Oluwayemi.

The goalkeeper signed for the club at 16, moving from the Spurs academy up north to join Celtic’s academy bhoys at Lennoxtown.

Tobi has represented England at every international age group so far open to him.

After signing Tobi told the Celtic website:

“I am working hard, giving everything to the Club to progress and make the most of this great opportunity.”

Celtic Agree Terms With Exciting Young Goalkeeper

Now 17, the player will be as affected by the lockdown as any young star; his development will not have gone to plan BUT is the is a bhoy who can make the jump within the next two years?

Celtic’s goalkeeping scene right now is at an all time low but throwing in a 17-year-old wouldn’t be the answer. Celtic should be making a point of giving Tobi as much experience as they can at colt level over the next 12 months and have him dip in and out of first team training with Stevie Woods.

Celtic need to bring young kids through, now more than ever with the current financial climate being the way it is. Tobi could be part of a Celtic revamp which could see the likes of Cameron Harper, Scott Robertson and Armstrong Oko-Flex come through in the next year or two.

In the meantime, Celtic really need to dip into the market in January for a goalkeeper.
