Neil Lennon has admitted that Sunday’s opponents, St Johnstone will be encouraged by the prospect of facing Celtic at Parkhead this weekend after a poor run of form.
As reported by the Scotsman, Lennon made this admission after watching his side lose a two-goal lead in Milan on Thursday night and also said St Johnstone will be a tough opposition to face, as they are on a good run of form after a poor start to the season but have now become a side who are hard to beat.
“St Johnstone are always stodgy opposition to play against and they may feel we are a little bit vulnerable.”
“But it doesn’t matter who we are playing. We have to try and end this run as quick as possible. Hopefully, they [the fans] will be celebrating a victory as that’s what we’ll be trying to do.”
In years gone by Celtic Park has pretty much been a fortress in most seasons and sides will usually fear coming to face the hoops with 60,000 people behind them.
Now, with the form, we are in having not won at Celtic Park since September every team will fancy their chances at playing Celtic right now no matter what ground it is at and Ross County are a perfect example of that last week. Add to that the absence of those 60,000 supporters but by now we should be used to that.
We really can’t afford to drop any more points in the league and with us facing a side who have become tough to beat in recent weeks, it feels like it has the potential to tricky test yet again.
