DERMOT DESMOND will not make a change of manager and it appears it’s not because he doesn’t think a change might be needed.
Instead the majority shareholder is sending out a defiant message through ‘sources’ to let it be known to the Celtic support he will not bow to pressure from the fans after seeing the scenes at Celtic Park on Sunday.
The bhoys crashed out of the League cup and it was the final straw for many of the supporters. Many went to the ground to protest the management BUT we seen videos of some taking it too far.
We’re now in the position where our majority shareholder is keeping the manager in a job to spite the support. A sorry state of affairs, RecordSport published quotes from Dermot Desmond source and it makes for incredible reading:
Desmond’s source said: “Dermot Desmond is simply not the kind of man who will be dictated to by a hate mob – if anything what went on after the game on Sunday has strengthened his resolve to give Neil another chance to turn things around.
“It’s obviously been a terrible run of results for the manager but last Friday, despite the Europa League defeat against Sparta Prague, Dermot was absolutely unequivocal in his support for Neil. Yes, the defeat to Ross County was a bad one but the reaction to it was even more unacceptable as far as Dermot is concerned.
“Neil knows he can’t go on losing games indefinitely but he will also not be thrown to the wolves just because of the demands of a bunch of fans with an enormous sense of entitlement.”
The sense of entitlement angle seems to be the party line for many.
The run and the performances Celtic have delivered since the beginning of the season has been ridiculously poor.
Fans can see us sleep walking into a league defeat and now we have a majority shareholder treating us with contempt. Months after the fans backed the club with season ticket money even though nobody is getting in stadiums.
