NEIL LENNON has admitted his side isn’t 100% there yet in terms of shape and fitness as they look to keep the feel good factor going at Celtic Park.
The bhoys will welcome Sparta Prague to Glasgow on Thursday night with three points on their mind in the Europa League before a massive game away to Motherwell in the early kick-off on Sunday.
While Celtic looked like there old selves at Hampden on Sunday against Aberdeen, Neil Lennon told the Celtic View, some of his players have still to get up to speed in the coming days and weeks.
“We’re still not where I want us to be but we’re getting there. The games take it out of them so we have to rest and recover. We have an important game on Thursday night and if we win that we’re back in the group. It’s very exciting but for now, the players need some rest and recovery.
“I saw plenty of it on Thursday night and I saw plenty of it on Sunday. We’re missing the wide men to take the brunt off Moi and Ryan. The shape has worked for us but we can always be flexible and go to three.
“Odsonne’s not fully fit and neither is Bitton or Hatem but they’ll get the benefit. The boys who are playing are playing very well and improving all the time so we’re not a million miles from where I want us to be.”
Edouard spooked the Aberdeen defence on Sunday and they just didn’t know how to cope. Moi and Christie got so much joy because the Frenchman was dragging their defenders attention away from elsewhere. Eddy dropped off in the second half which would lend credence to Neil Lennon saying the striker isn’t fit yet.
All three he mentions have suffered from the virus in the past month and are looking to get back to their best.
