Major Unseen Celtic Assist at Hampden Goalkeeper Confirms

Former Celtic goalkeeper and Scotland number one David Marshall has heaped praise on Celtic’s and Scotland goalkeeping coach Stevie Woods for helping the national team with their penalty shoot-out heroics.

120 minutes had been and gone and it was down to the lottery of spot kicks. Marshall saved Israel’s first penalty and that would be enough to send Scotland through to the playoff finals.

Speaking after the game, David Marshall told the media it was down to Stevie Woods doing his research before the game which came up big for the goalkeeper on the night. Even though he only saved the one, Stevie had let him know which way the players were likely to strike their penalties.

The Celtic goalkeeping coach has earned rave reviews over the years from just about everybody who has worked with him. He’s taken a talent like Craig Gordon and brought him back from the brink of retirement, he also trained Fraser Forster from Newcastle reserve to European hero.
