Chris Sutton has claimed that Neil Lennon should have named and shamed those players, who he feels want to leave the club, when speaking in his press conference after the game on Wednesday.
Sutton, who was featuring on BT Sports-Scottish Football extra, revealed his thoughts around Lennon’s strangely timed comments and believes he should have told the support who these supposed ‘bad eggs’ were.
The Northern Irishman has of course come out and backtracked this statement, during his pre-match press conference yesterday, stating that the squad of players were ‘a good bunch of lads’ who the club weren’t looking to sell.
Admittedly, this does make Wednesday night’s comments even stranger. The culprits of this, appeared to be Kristoffer Ajer and Oliver Ntcham as the following day, the press speculated that the representatives of both these players had asked for a valuation that would allow them to leave the hoops.
Exiting the Champions League, definitely wasn’t part of Neil Lennon’s plans, so it may be that his comments were only out of frustration. Even at that though, you wouldn’t expect him to come out with this and say it has been ‘bugging him for months’.
Hopefully the squad and management team, have had some clear the air talks which have settled things down a little more, so that we can get back on track for now and focussing on the up and coming games, starting with Motherwell’s trip to Parkhead on Sunday
