Neil Lennon told BBC Sportsound that neither of his strikers were match fit and that’s why he started with Ryan Christie up front from the off.
Lennon spoke to BBC Radio Scotland : “Edouard’s got a niggle in the thigh. It was too sore for him yesterday and obviously he’s not made it, so it’s a big loss for us but we’ve got plenty of quality in the team tonight.
“Ajeti is not match fit and Klimala is not match fit. I’ve got a front six that would grace a lot of teams.”
We get why Ajeti is not match fit having just come into the club with no pre-season under his belt but Klimala has had a full pre season with the club and has looked to up his fitness and strength game.
Surely he deserved a start on the night to help the team out considering Odsonne was out of action. It beggars belief that Neil Lennon would claim the Pole is not match fit, why not in that case?
The Irishman crammed a bunch of players onto the field much like he did against Cluj last year and looked underwhelming. We didn’t take our chances and we were punished by a side we should have beaten comfortably. It’s a bitter, bitter night for Celtic with lots of questions rather than answers.
