Biggest Threat to Ten in a Row Emerges

The SPFL is trying to concoct a scenario where the league can be called if 50% of the games have been played this season and we go into another shut down according to SunSport. Last season, the top flight had eight games to go when it could no longer continue and the league was called as it stood.

In the 50% scenario, Celtic might not get the opportunity to play their postponed games giving them a massive disadvantage if the league was called extremely prematurely.

Add on top of that, the fixtures we’ll miss due to participation in lag seasons Scottish Cup as well as a potential Euro run and it’s safe to say we’ll be at least two or three games behind the rest.

This is something the whole league needs to approve and it will go to a vote. It remains to be seen if clubs would be up for that sort of scenario. However, the need for a plan B is a must.

The SPFL rarely reaches a consensus over these things and tend to be reactive instead of proactive. We’ll see how these talks pan out.
