During the transfer window, Celtic are never too far away from another rumour. Some are more credible than others, but it comes part and parcel of this time of year.
Celtic have been linked with Liam Moore of Reading today as an alternate choice to Shane Duffy but now the Athletic are reporting the Scottish Champions are one of a number of clubs interested in Tottenham’s Ryan Sessegnon.
The left-sided midfielder who could slot into a full-back role or even left-back was signed by Spurs from Fulham just last year for a whopping £24m. However, the player only managed 12 appearances for the London club. The Athletic are reporting Mourinho has no plans for the player this season and a loan move could be best for all parties.
The same report claims Celtic are in the mix if the 20-year-old does go on loan.
This seems to be a market Celtic like to sound out. Wait for English Premier clubs to buy players for over the odds, misuse them and pick them up either on loan or to buy.
It’s not a bad strategy. Whether it has just been a fleeting question about Ryan’s availability by the club is another thing. It will be interesting to see if anything comes of it.
