The Aberdeen player who let themselves, their club and the league down by breaking strict Covid protocols causing their game to be postponed have broke their silence to apologise.
As it transpires, former Celtic player, Jonny Hayes, was among the players who broke the rules and is now isolating as a result.
The mistake made by the Dons stars serve as a stark reminder how fragile our fixture list is and how important it is to stay inside their sporting bubble.
BREAKING: The self-isolating Aberdeen players have released a joint statement.
“We, as a small group of players, made a huge error of judgement.
“We once again apologise unreservedly to the fans, the manager, the board and all the staff at the club”. pic.twitter.com/8Ln49ZWx36

Hayes left Celtic in May when the club decided not to offer the player a new deal. Initial signs, before the season was prematurely ended, suggested Hayes would get a deal.
Now back at Aberdeen, the Irishman will line up against Celtic in the Scottish Cup from last term. Had the season finished as normal, Hayes would have likely started for Celtic in the tie.
