€5m Deal, Four Year Contract – Celtic Closing in on Second Summer Signing

Celtic look like they’re closing in on Vasillos Barkas from AEK Athens with reports from Greece now claiming the clubs are in advanced talks with an agreement on a fee just about done according to Gazzetta.gr.

Barkas has been at the top of Celtic’s list as a replacement for Fraser Forster for the past month. The goalkeeper appears to be keen on a move to Celtic and wages won’t be a stumbling block.

If the keeper signs before Sunday, he could be thrown in against Hamilton. However, with less than a week of preparation, it’s more likely Neil Lennon will initially go with Scott Bain.

The report claims the deal is for €5m plus bonuses and the Barkas will sign a four-year contract.

Celtic are also in talks to bring a striker in from West Ham on-loan. Albian Ajeti has been heavily linked with a move to Celtic Park over the past 24 hours.
