Hatem Elhamed has had many injury problems which forced him to miss a large chunk of last season. But the Israel defender is looking to put that disappointment behind him for the up and coming season, revealing he was “really happy to be back” and ready for what will be a different pre-season for the club.
In an interview with the clubs official website, Elhamed also revealed how delighted he was to have helped the club win two trophies, with a possible third still to come, when the Scottish Cup is finally played out.
“I was in Israel with my family when I heard we were crowned champions. It was a very special moment for me. With this type of achievement, you’d like to celebrate with your team mates and with the fans but the situation with the coronavirus has made things different.

“It was great to win the league, and the league cup, so to win two trophies with Celtic in my first season was great. I was obviously injured for some time in the season, which meant I missed out on a number of matches, but I’m happy to have been part of things.”
When the Israeli international right back first joined the club, there was lot of mystery around the singing. Many were actually quite critical of it and did not actually know what position he played in.
Although, when Elhamed, stared as a regular at the beginning of the season it was clear to see the quality he possessed. Playing the majority of the time at right back but also showing he was capable of filling in at centre half.
He did have his injury problems which really hindered his season but before the pandemic kicked in it looked as though he was just about to return to full fitness, featuring in the last game that the club played against St Mirren and even won a penalty in this game.
Elhamed is certainly someone we should be hoping can stay fit for the up and coming season as it is clear to see the quality that he has and will also give us two great options for that position, along with young star Jeremie Frimpong
