‘They’re going to have to look for somewhere else’ – Pundit Makes Celtic Premier League Claim

It’s been the age old argument and debate but Celtic heading down south to play football in any capacity is one that’s never really got off the ground.

Sure there have been rumours of moves to the championship and being wedged into a new look Premier League etc but ultimately nobody down south wants to share their piece of the pie with any clubs north of the border.

Given the current crisis and the fragility of Scottish football financially, former Sky Sports Pundit Andy Gray has suggested Celtic and The Rangers would have to look at going down south if the worst were to happen in Scotland.

“Rangers and Celtic have to play competitive football and if they are not getting competitive football, or enough people, or enough competition in Scotland they’re going to have to look for somewhere else.” Gray told RecordSport.

“And where is the best place for Rangers and Celtic to go play? In my opinion, it’s always been the one thing the Premier League can add to something that has been so successful, to maybe make it even better for me, would be two very strong Rangers and Celtic sides.”

It always seems like a pointless exercise to dredge this old debate up. At least once a year it comes back into the media spotlight north of the border while people down south just dismiss it.

Football could look a lot different after the next year or two, you never know what’s around the corner. More chance of a European style league than getting invited to the Premier League.
