Clubs Accept Season is Over – Unanimous Decision Reached

It appears Celtic are just in a waiting game now as they get set to be crowned champions of Scotland for the ninth consecutive season.

RecordSport have reported this evening that during last Friday’s meeting all 12 clubs unanimously accepted the league could not come to its natural conclusion — including The Rangers.

This means Neil Doncaster and Murdo MacLennan will now look to confirm this after minutes at a meeting were not taken down properly. Instead of the unanimous verdict of the season being brought to an end, it was written that a consensus had been reached.

A Record source said: “There was a lot going on during that meeting of the Premiership clubs as well as Dundee United. It was during those discussions, for example, that it became obvious there was no appetite for league reconstruction. And that quickly became the major talking point.

“But it was not until the minutes were sent to all clubs that the discrepancy between what actually happened and what was put down in writing was spotted. On a matter of such importance there’s a huge difference between a unanimous decision, which is what took place, and a consensus, which is what was minuted.”

The source added: “Everyone now realises that there is no chance of restarting the season. Even Rangers agreed during Friday’s meeting.

“So the most important thing now is to focus on how we go about getting next season up and running because that in itself will be fraught with difficulty.”

Celtic could be days away from a decision that will crown them champions while Hearts would be heading down to the Championship.

This isn’t ideal for anyone, but if you’re looking for common sense, this is the best way of doing things without harming clubs even more financially.

For Celtic, it will be job done and we’ll be looking to make it ten next season when football can resume.
