SPFL Latest: Clubs Want Season End Date, Ibrox Evidence Not Forthcoming

The BBC is reporting that the clubs did NOT get to see the evidence The Rangers have on the SPFL at Friday’s meeting but suggest it will be made available for clubs next week.

It’s become a bit of a farce, if you have evidence, hand it over and let’s get everything out in the open.

Away from that nonsense, there was some productive talk on how to finish the season and the pitfalls involved in trying to do so.

Here is the BBC’s main takeaways from the people they spoke to about the meeting.

  • General consensus that everyone wants to complete the season but many think it unlikely;
  • Should it be decided that games would be played behind closed doors, five clubs said they would struggle to field teams due to players’ contracts expiring;

  • Some clubs – including Celtic and Rangers – are keen to establish a date by which it need to be called;
  • SPFL are waiting for clarity from the government and Uefa, then will consult with clubs, before making decision.

Celtic have always maintained they want the season to finish. We need a plan in place and after UEFA and the government are consulted – there needs to be a timeframe sorted out.

UEFA set their own May 25th deadline for leagues to declare their position so presumably it will have to be before then. We should hopefully no more next week.
