Sky Sports Set to Throw SPFL Curve Ball – Reports

It is being reported that the SPFL are now seeking an urgent meeting with the Scottish Government over their stance on football starting back up any time soon,

Nicola Sturgeon made it clear on Monday the government isn’t comfortable with even allowing closed door games to go ahead late in the summer because of the potential of fans to congregate outside stadiums.

This has prompted SPFL officials to reach out to the government MailSport has confirmed.

The fear is, clubs could hit the wall with no revenue at all from TV or otherwise.

Playing behind closed doors isn’t ideal but the SPFL seem to view it as a lifeline. MailSport also claim, if they can’t get going in some capacity, there are fears over Sky Sports looking to renegotiate their new contract which is supposed to start in August.

Lives HAVE to come first and the ongoing battle to bring things under control is of the upmost importance. However, there are a lot of livelihoods at stake when it comes to football and it would be negligent of the government not to look at all scenarios in a bid to get something going in the short to medium future.
