STEVEN GERRARD has broken his silence about the goings-on of the last few days and wants an independent investigation into the SPFL proposal.
The Ibrox manager also said his ideal situation would be playing the final games in some form or fashion – notably, he never mentions null and void.
Crucially he implies of wrongdoing at the SPFL and wants and investigation to see if they’re ‘clean’.
“It’s a bit of a mess. The SPFL looks an absolute mess. The main leader of the SPFL has to show leadership. He needs to allow an independent investigation into the set-up.” Gerrard told SkySports as cited by Raman Bhardwaj.
”I don’t agree with an internal investigation. You shouldn’t be allowed to mark your own homework. For me there needs to be an investigator or a forensic investigator and look at everything across the board with the SPFL’
“I’ve watched in the last two or three days the SPFL get absolutely slaughtered and I’m waiting, for the leader, Murdoch MacLennan, to come out and show leadership and allow an outside investigator to come in and prove everything is clean’
”Ideally I’d like to see us playing and finish the season, but the main priority is everybody’s health.”
This is off the back of his employers throwing the toys out of the pram under the pretence they were concerned about other clubs.
In reality, they could not be seen to be supporting any proposal which rightfully crowned Celtic champions and have done their best to murky the waters over the past week.
The Rangers have shown little in the way of decorum. Had they been top of the league, imagine their outrage if they weren’t crowned champions being thirteen points clear.
