Darrell Currie has tonight hit out on social media at SPFL chief Neil Doncaster got ‘disrespectful’ comments towards BT Sport as they head for the exit of Scottish football.
Sky Sports have won and paid for the right to air SPFL football exclusively from next season (whenever that is) which has depressed many supporters within our game.
BT didn’t put up the money for our game in the end but their coverage is far superior to anything Sky Sports have done over the last twenty years with Scottish football.
They have given our game time, respect and real analysis. Not just for the Glasgow teams but for the rest of the clubs.
Doncaster has claimed channels which have shared the rights have not given the league enough of their attention.
“Since then rights have been shared so it’s perhaps no surprise the broadcasters haven’t given it the love they show other leagues.
“I’m confident we will see a sea change in the approach with Sky taking up the reigns exclusively.”
Here was Currie’s response.
Totally disrespectful from Doncaster here.
To suggest BT Sport haven’t given the SPFL the ‘’love they show other leagues’’.
Absolutely pathetic – we’ve given everything to our coverage.
Also, he’s told us in person how much he’s enjoyed our work.
Pathetic. 👇 https://t.co/vKDnI1MzEL— Darrell Currie (@darrellcurrietv) March 19, 2020
