CELTIC will head to Ibrox this weekend to take on The Rangers in what could be a pivotal day in the club’s pursuit of nine in a row.
Usually we’re wondering what Neil Lennon has in mind for his line up and how The Bhoys might set up. However, the worldwide spread of the Coronavirus has put a lot of live sport under the spotlight and mass gatherings continuing to be monitored.
With France announcing closed door games until after Easter, Italy already on lockdown and the virus numbers getting bigger by the day in the UK, nothing is off the table.
The UK are expecting the numbers of people confirmed with the disease to grow throughout the week but right now there’s still no serious plans to play the Ibrox game behind closed doors.
An SFA Spokesperson told SunSport.”There are no plans to play games behind closed doors at present.
“The joint Scottish FA and SPFL response group will be guided by government and medical advice on the situation and any updates on the situation will be communicated by the response group appropriately.”
The rugby in Scotland is set to go ahead this weekend too at the moment.
Again, this will be closely monitored and it does appear the rules are being made up as they go.
We wouldn’t completely rule a closed door derby happening right now but it appears every effort is being made to stop that from happening.
