CELTIC took their time but they finally managed to breakdown a dogged St Johnstone side who tried their best to stop the current holders from reaching the semi-final.
It wasn’t a day for good football. The weather coupled with the condition of the pitch meant it was a day for digging in and grinding out the result and that’s what Celtic did in the end.
The game was not without it’s talking points and the biggest one of the day was Bobby Madden NOT sending off Jamie McCart for his shocking challenge on James Forrest.
James was heading down the wing when he was booted right up in the air by a reckless challenge from McCart. In real-time and in slow motion the challenge looked awful, yet Bobby Madden reached only for his yellow. We would ask the question, what warrants a red card if that specific challenge didn’t?
Many Celtic fans online were in agreement.
Can someone at the @ScottishFA please explain why official Bobby Madden never sent off St.Johnstone's Jamie McCart for his assault on James Forrest in yesterday's @ScottishCup tie…no @CelticFC player would have remained on the park for a challenge like that..apply the rules🤔🤔

Still can’t believe that McCart challenge on Forrest only warranted a yellow card, I’ve seen players sent off for less.

What is the difference between McCart's tackle on Forrest today, which was a yellow card, and Porteous tackle on Barisic in December – a red and uproar by the Rangers bench and the media?

Just watched the tackle on James Forrest by Jamie McCart again. A stick on straight red card if ever I saw one.
