Celtic supporters are set to be given a bumper amount of tickets later this month when the bhoys head to McDiarmid Park to take on St Johnstone.
An official club statement has cleared the way for Celtic fans to be allowed three sides of the stadium with the club citing the supporters they spoke to had a level of comfort with taking this action.
Celtic have seen their allocation embarrassingly cut in places over the past few seasons due to opposition fans complaints about the size of the crowd, but when it comes down to it they don’t fill those seats.
The revenue increased by St Johnstone will only help the club in the long run and makes financial sense if their own support aren’t going to fill the seats.
St Johnstone official wrote:
The desired result of the amended allocation would be the following:
- comfort of our fans creating a partisan atmosphere
- implementation of amended traffic management
- ease of ticket sales for home fans
- increased income for the Club in order to balance the increased spend on our playing squad
- in line with similar practices adopted elsewhere
Celtic will now pass this allocation onto the support and the chance for many who would normally miss out on a ticket to get one.
The game between Celtic and St Johnstone takes place on the 29th January and is a midweek tie.
