CELTIC didn’t need Odsonne Edouard on the night to make light work of Rennes in the Europa league with the Scottish Champions stamping their authority on the French side.
No Edouard, no problem as Lewis Morgan became a makeshift striker for the night and got on the scoresheet.
Celtic’s midfield play was outstanding at times and Ryan Christie’s goal from outside the area highlights the young lad’s talent.
The best goal of the night had to be Mikey Johnston’s who linked up brilliantly with Olivier Ntcham then floated by the Rennes defender to find the corner of the goal.
It was a really satisfying night for Celtic fans who only last year were relying on a very late Rosenborg goal on match day six to qualify for the knockout stage. Talk about night and day!
Honourable mention to Fraser Forster who again came up big, prompting Chris Sutton to marvel at the goalkeepers shot stopping skill – ‘Ridiculous’ and ‘Absolutely no right’. He and the defence would’ve been disappointed to lose their clean sheet. But on the whole it was a great night.
