Neil Lennon has told Celtic fans there are two key elements for the club in their pursuit of Victor Wanyama this January.
It comes down to ‘availability’ and ‘affordability’.
Availability – How Spurs view the player and they’re openness to selling or loaning out the player.
Affordability – How feasible it would be for Celtic to bring the player in on any sort of deal given the money involved.
There’s no doubt Celtic would love to have Victor back at the club in even a short term capacity but Neil Lennon sounds like a man who knows there’s not much chance of it happening.
“(We’re looking) for a player like Wanyama, it’s about availability.” Lennon told SunSport.
“They (Tottenham) have had a change of manager, then there’s affordability.
“Would I like Wanyama in the building? Of course.
“But it may not be an area we are looking to add to because of the way the midfield is functioning.
“We are looking at the forward area, that may be the one area we are looking strengthen.”
If Celtic do add to the squad in January and Neil Lennon already knows his budget then he clearly feels another striker would best suit the team rather than a holding midfielder. If he could get both then, great! However it doesn’t sound likely. The club would also be better served getting rid of fringe players to free up money and spaces in the squad.
