The Celtic AGM passed relatively quietly but it wasn’t without its moments.
During the over two hour long meeting between board members and shareholders a lot of topics were covered.
From re-electing the board to playing staff and Celtic’s place in Europe. During the Q&A from shareholders there was one disgruntled person who wanted to know exactly why Peter Lawwell had been given a bonus considering the chief executive noted the fall in profit earlier in the meeting.
In true Glaswegian fashion, the shareholder enquired in not to subtle terms.
“How many goals did you score?” The shareholder exclaimed, as cited by RecordSport.
“You have had a pay increase – it’s bizarre.”
Before Peter could say anything he was backed up by chairman Ian Bankier who said:
“Peter Lawwelll is worth every penny that we pay him” which got a good applause from the room.
The chief executive’s pay packet is always a hot topic among the Celtic support – even when we’re doing well on the field.
Neil Lennon has also backed Peter after the question.
“Peter Lawwell is the best.” Neil Lennon stated.
“You have to pay for him. He makes unpopular decisions but he is worth every penny he is paid.”
Neil was famously offered the Celtic job for the second time by Lawwell in the Hampden showers after the treble treble winning game.
Celtic have been riding high so far this season under Neil Lennon. Peter Lawwell reaping the rewards of appointing the Celtic boss.
