DEDRYCK BOYATA has had a nightmare for Hertha Berlin in the Berlin Derby on Saturday afternoon.
The former Celtic defender who had overcome a potential injury blow to play in the tie gave a way the decisive penalty on the 87th minute.
Boyata attempted challenge was deemed a penalty by the referee and VAR confirmed the decision.
This condemned the away side to defeat against Union Berlin on the day and will have Boyata licking his wounds until the next game.
The Derby was hotly contested and had a large amount of stoppage time in the second half after supporters had thrown flares onto the pitch.
Boyata signed a pre-contract with Hertha back before the end of last season. It was no secret the player was headed for the Celtic Park sexist but to his credit he did play well for the club during last season before an injury which would see him miss the last part of the season.
His falling out with management over a failed Premier League bid at the start of last term was the catalyst for it all. Brendan Rodgers would ultimately leave for the Premier League after blocking Boyata’s move.
