FRASER FORSTER has given his biggest hint yet he’s ready to re-sign with Celtic on a permanent basis should the club seek to make a move for him at the end of the season.
The goalkeeper has rediscovered his love of the game after two years of hell at Southampton where he had to play with the under 23s.
Coming back to Celtic at the start of the season, he’s quickly picked up where he left off and is Celtic’s number one.
The ridiculous save against Lazio cementing him as the man for the job and leaving no doubt as to why Neil Lennon has trusted Fraser with the gloves at the expense of Craig Gordon and Scott Bain.
Speaking to RecordSport about a potential deal – the player admits he can’t do much from his end but if the opportunity arises for a permanent deal he would find it hard to say no.
“I just wanted to go somewhere I felt wanted. I’ve not had that for a long time. I’d some tough times down there.
“Training for the Under 23s and being away from the first-team. To come back is fantastic.
“A lot of it is out of my hands, we’ll just have to wait and see, but I’d never say no to this club.”
If Fraser is still so far down the pecking order at Southampton a deal could be done but it would be the goalkeeper having to take a major wage cut to make a deal happen. He has a long contract with the struggling St Mary’s side – if they wanted a large fee we don’t see the board sanctioning a big money move for a player with no resale value.
