Jeremie Frimpong is riding the wave of positivity after making his first ever top flight debut at Celtic Park on Wednesday night. The new Celtic youngster has been the talk of social media after a strong display saw him pick up man of the match as well as help his new side to a 5-0 victory in the League Cup.
The defender has just recently made the move from Manchester City and was confident in his own ability to come up to Celtic and try and impress early on. The lad had bags of self belief and his enthusiasm seems very infectious when you listen to his post-match interview.
There’s still a lot to learn and a long way to go but having the player at the club is a big boost and speaks to a bigger picture at Celtic where they appeared to have recruited very well in the summer.
Speaking about his debut, the right-back couldn’t hide his delight.
“It was my first professional game and the fans; I love them already.” Jeremie told CelticTV.
“To hear them when I came off was amazing. I’ve been trying to make a good impression and I found out two or three days ago I was starting. I played well and now I have to keep that going.
“I’m very grateful that the manager gave me a chance.
“It’s a dream come true to play for Celtic. It’s the biggest club in Scotland so it’s amazing. My goal was to play for the first team. I thought I was ready and I proved to the manager I was ready. He gave me a chance and hopefully I can do more.”
Jeremie was asked when he found out he would get the nod for the game.
