In a move that came from nowhere on Saturday morning it appears as if reports are true and Celtic are on the brink of their fifth summer signing.

After The Herald reported Celtic were close to signing Jonathan Afolabi the player was pictured at Celtic Park – presumably to sign on the dotted line.

Afolabi, 19, is a free agent after leaving Southampton this summer. The winger looks set to join Neil Lennon’s squad but no word yet if the player will go straight into the first team to challenge for a place.

Celtic are rich in wingers and many supporters will be wondering why the club have actively looked to bring in another player in that area.

The Bhoys defence still needs reinforcements. Celtic have until the start of September to add to their squad and time is running out.

The club need players for the here and now.
