It has been well documented that Celtic are struggling for a quality left-back. Tonight Neil Lennon chose to drop the left-back he just bought and replace him with a midfielder. That midfielder played left-back before and it didn’t work out that time and it is also failing Neil Lennon so far tonight.
Brendan Rodgers tried to play Callum McGregor at left-back before at Ibrox and it didn’t work. The Bhoys got an early warning tonight when McGregor got caught out napping at the back post to let a Cluj attacker narrowly miss out on giving the Romanians the opener.
McGregor can’t be held to blame, the midfielder looks uncomfortable defending and his positioning looks like it could cost Celtic again. The Romanian champions are certainly aware of Celtic’s weak spot and scored from a goal into the same back post where McGregor failed to stop his man as he headed home to put Cluj one up.
Celtic fans have been reacting to Callum McGregor been asked to play at left-back tonight.

Lennon absolutely fucked it with this team tonight. McGregor dictates play every game and he’s sacrificed at left back. One too many centre mids. Change it asap.

I know he’s playing out of position but McGregor has been poor today. Seems uncomfortable on the ball and struggling to stay on his feet at times.

Boli has been ok in that position so i don't know why we dropper him and moving McGregor out of the midfield fucks the whole team because Brown is lost without him

Lennon has forty-five minutes to save Celtic’s chances of playing in the Champions League this season, will he change the obvious and glaring problem?
