Brendan Rodgers Made Late Bid for Celtic Star – Dermot Desmond Intervention

According to reports overnight, Brendan Rodgers tried an eleventh-hour approach to try and land his former Celtic star Callum McGregor.

The Daily Mail print edition claims the Irishman came in with a very late bid for the Scottish midfielder after the manager looked to spend some of the cash from the Harry McGuire transfer to Manchester United.

However, Football Scotland reports Dermot Desmond himself told Brendan Rodgers and Leicester the deal would not be happening even with the club ready to spend a reported £20m to secure Callum.

Celtic lost Keiran Tierney on the English deadline day for a record breaking fee – had Celtic fans see Callum head out the door two there could have been a massive uproar.

Brendan Rodgers has been a big admirer of McGregor after helping turn him into the player he is today. Celtic fans must be wary of a January bid for their player now but hopefully, by then, Rodgers will have moved on.
