LEIGH GRIFFITHS has told the media after Wednesday night’s 5-0 victory against Kalju that he was close to tears when he smashed home an absolute belter of a free-kick – his first goal since returning from mental health issues.
The striker got his first competitive goal of 2019 in Celtic’s second-round qualifier tonight against Nõmme Kalju. The strikers would have been dreaming or wondering would he ever experience a moment like tonight again and how long would that take.
Leigh has been very honest about his struggles over the past six months and that honesty continued tonight post-match after the player buried his free-kick and picked up a man of the match award.
Leigh Griffiths says “words can’t describe how good it felt” when he scored his 1st Celtic goal since November. “I was going to cry, I’m not going to lie…it’s up there with the England moment” pic.twitter.com/4x7yP6jaG3

Celtic made light work of tonight’s opponents at Paradise as they routed Nõmme Kalju with five goals to effectively kill the tie off. Neil Lennon will now feel he can rest some players in next weeks return leg.
The sight of Griffiths and Edouard starting tonight together excited a lot of fans and that excitement was to become part of the Bhoys performance on the park.
