Usually, we would have to wait until the end of August to the start of September to be completely sure one of our players wouldn’t be poached by an English club.
However, the rule changes last year in the English Premier League and the football leagues mean that Celtic fans will know one way or another about Tierney’s deal to Arsenal by August 8th as outlined by the PL. That’s the day the English window closes and all clubs must have finalised their transfers by then.
English clubs can still sell players to foreign markets but they can no longer get players in until the January window.
Celtic fans will be getting fatigued from the constant speculation surrounding their star player and while the rumours of his departure won’t completely go away after this deadline if he still remains, it will ease off.
Celtic fans would love to see the player stay but right now we can take nothing for granted.
Conceivably, Tierney could play in Celtic’s opening SPFL game on August 3rd and move on shortly after.
