He has only been away for five months but a lot has changed since Lewis Morgan took his temporary leave from Celtic Park to join Jack Ross at Sunderland.
The former Championship player of the year struggled to get into Brendan Rodgers’ side in the first half of the season and the Irishman gave his blessing for Lewis to head out.
Since then, Brendan Rodgers has made his own move to England and Neil Lennon has come in to become the permanent Celtic manager for the second time.
Lewis was a big part of Sunderland’s second half of the season and unfortunately he along with the rest of the Black Cats failed to gain promotion when the expectations were high.
A lot of Sunderland fans have praised Lewis during his loan period and as the player gets prepared to return to Celtic, the midfielder said his goodbyes on social media.
Would like to thank everyone associated with @SunderlandAFC for the last few months. Gutted that we weren’t able to achieve promotion but I’ve no doubt the club will get back to where it belongs. It was a privilege to represent you, Good luck🔴⚪️
