‘I would like him to stay’ – Neil Lennon’s Massive U-Turn on Celtic Star

NEIL LENNON has been confirmed as Celtic boss and while we’ve been speculating for months on who the next Celtic manager will be the Irishman has been making plans.

Neil has spoken to a number of key personnel ahead of the summer.

We already know he told Filip Bekovic he would love to have the big defender for another season. The Celtic manager has also assured some players of their place in the squad.

One guy who’s situation is still up in the air, however, is Mikael Lustig. The Swede is out of contract now and free to listen to any offers.

Mikael has always said he will only leave Celtic if the club don’t want him anymore and going by Neil Lennon’s comments it looks like the new Celtic boss wants him around for ten in a row.

“I have spoken to him, but not to his representatives. I had good feedback from Mika.” Neil told CelticTV.

“I would like him to stay. I think he still has a year or two in him.

“He has been a fantastic player for the club. He has been pivotal on and off the field.”

Most Celtic fans will be hoping Neil means as a backup because there’s just no way he has the legs to continue to play as many games for the treble treble champions.

He is a big character off the field but Neil must be wary of sentiment getting in the way of any plans. John McGinn once famously stated Neil Lennon told his Hibs side to target Lustig against Celtic as a potential weak link. To go from that to signing him on another deal would be a massive u-turn.
