Charlie Nicholas Makes Celtic Claim Live on Air

It hasn’t been confirmed yet but it looks like Neil Lennon’s official announcement will come very soon ahead of the new season.

The Irishman was offered the job in the Hampden showers on Saturday afternoon and terms have been thrashed out since.

The decision caught many off guard, especially the timing of the announcement that Neil was offered the job without anything being official. Speaking to Sky Sports live on air and cited by Football Scotland, former Celtic player Charlie Nicholas doesn’t think it was the right call.

“I didn’t think it was the right decision. I would’ve went for something a little bit different.

“I was looking at somebody like [Slaven] Bilic or someone that might have a different creative [approach] but Neil did a fabulous sit-in for Brendan Rodgers.

“He’s earned the right to take the position. He’s not agreed it yet, I know that, but I think Neil will be looking forward to it.”

Celtic will go forward now regardless of Nicholas’ or anyone else’s opinion. Neil has done well for Celtic and the timing of him coming in to pick up the pieces Brendan Rodgers dropped in February is well noted.

Neil knows the amount of pressure and stress the next two seasons will be as we get closer to that coveted ten in a row. If he lands the feat he will go down in Celtic folklore even more than he already will.
