Confirmed – Defender Reveals Celtic Made £8million Bid for His Services

Timothy Castagne has lifted the lid on his potential move to Celtic and revealed how much Celtic bid for his services in January.

Brendan Rodgers was desperate to land the right back and Celtic put up big money in order to try and bring the Belgium star in but it wasn’t to be.

Castagne wanted out of Atalanta where he was rarely being used at the time and quite fancied going to a club who could make the Champions League.

However, Atalanta rebuffed Celtic’s advances and refused to let the player go for less than £12million.

Five months on and Timothy is now a first team Atalanta star and has helped his club to a third places Serie A finish ensuring Champions League football for the club.

Speaking about his complete turnaround in fortunes, Castagne can’t believe it and revealed the bid Celtic made for his services.

“It’s incredible how quickly things in football can change.” Castagne told SunSport.

“In December I wasn’t starting any games and there was a £8 million move to Celtic on the table. It looked like I was leaving, but the club wanted £12 million and the deal collapsed.

“Since then, having not played for 13 games, I played just about every other game and we qualified for the Champion League.

“So it’s been an unbelievable turnaround for me and I now have the two Euro 2020 games coming up against Kazakhstan and Scotland.”
