It has been two days since we learned the sad news of Billy McNeill’s passing. Celtic’s greatest ever captain passed away peacefully on Monday night surrounded by his loved ones with the official announcement coming Tuesday morning.

Since the announcement, Celtic fans have been visiting Celtic Park and more specifically the statue of the great man at the end of the Celtic Way as they pay respect to a Celtic Legend.

Billy was a great man who earned respect from not just Celtic fans but the wider football community. As we say our goodbyes and pay tribute to our greatest ever captain the picture below brings a tear to the eye.

The heart warming messages, the flowers, the Celtic jerseys laid beside the statue of big billy is a sight to behold and it’s only going to grow in the next few days as more people pay their respect to the European Cup winner.
