Lennon Still “Hopeful” Of Boyata Staying At Celtic Park

Neil Lennon said in his post-match interview today that he has not given up hope of keeping defender Dedryck Boyata at Celtic Park despite reports linking him with Hertha Berlin earlier today. Most Celtic fans have probably given up on the idea that Boyata would be staying at Paradise after the summer.

Most will welcome the fact that the club is battling to change the player’s mind. His Celtic career seemed over last summer when it was rumoured he refused to play in a Champions League qualifier after the board refused to sell him.

The interim manager said Boyata deciding to stay would be “great for everyone”.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if there is interest in him, but we are still hopeful that we can persuade him to stay,”

The manager was speaking after recording his second scoreless draw at Celtic Park, something the packed home support are not accustomed to in domestic competition. Despite the draw, Lennon said he was “pleased with the overall performance but not the scoreline”
