CHRIS SUTTON has slammed the sectarian abuse Steve Clarke received at Ibrox last night and declared it a ‘huge issue’ in Scottish football.
The Kilmarnock boss was visibly upset as he described the sort of backwards, sectarian taunts he was subjected to while trying to do his job at Ibrox.
Clarke asked why is it ok to call him a Fenian b***** when if it was a person of colour being taunted that wouldn’t be ok.
He was disgusted, and so is Chris Sutton as we try and rid the game of this nonsense. Religion in football is a dying game but as the walls close in on this deplorable behaviour the people still desperate to cling to it are becoming louder and louder with the backdrop of Brexit Britain giving them carte blanch to say whatever they like without serious repercussions.
Sutton wants to see this kind of stuff dealt with and branded sectarianism in football as disgusting.
I love Scottish football but Steve Clarke is spot on to call out sectarian abuse. It is still a huge issue and we shouldn’t bury our heads in the sand. The people dishing out the abuse should be called out for what they are and dealt with… it is disgusting… https://t.co/LRrgbKNmug
