CHRIS SUTTON has installed Steven Gerrard’s men as title favourites as of now because of the Ibrox club’s exploits in the transfer market.
Sutton has written in his Record Column that Jermain Defoe coming to play for Gerrard’s men has tipped the balance in the Ibrox club’s favour for now.
The Englishman has urged Celtic to start getting business done in this transfer window if they aren’t to be caught cold in late January when the season resumes.
Right now, Celtic are in talks with some players and hoping to get deals over the line.
However, the sheer panic from Chris Sutton over Defoe being a ‘game changer’ is quite amusing.
Sometimes the name of a player eclipses the reality. Sutton praises the Ibrox club for spending an absorbent amount of money on a 36-year-old who hasn’t had the best of records over the past six years while gives his old club it in the neck for trying to sign young talent who can make a name for themselves while at Celtic.
There’s no doubt Defoe will be their best striker, but the hyperbolic nonsense from Chris on this is quite startling.
We’ve even had Darren Bent, and Kris Boyd describes the signing being able to make a ‘similar impact’ to Robbie Keane when he signed for Celtic; if that’s the case, eight in a row is on its way!
Celtic have to look at themselves in this window, nobody else. Brendan Rodgers knows what positions he needs to fill and it’s up to the board to back him.
