Off the Ball’s Tam Cowan has launched a quite the bitter wee rant at Celtic after the club picked up their seventh consecutive domestic trophy under Brendan Rodgers last article.
Cowan branded the Celtic team flat and pointed to the financial disparity between Celtic and Aberdeen as cause for Celtic players NOT to celebrate their latest triumph.
Yes, you read that correctly.
Tam thinks because Celtic have so much more money than the Dons that Celtic should’ve quietly collected their medals and moved on.
Obviously referencing Derek McInnes making up a fantasy story about Lustig and Brown having a go at young Lewis Ferguson at the end of the game. Something Lustig has made clear wasn’t the case.
The radio man then goes onto say we should be quiet because Athens ‘pumped’ us out of Europe.
Suggesting Celtic had moaned about how they went out of Europe due to financial disparity between us and Athens. Eh?
There was no talk of this, the glue down Motherwell way must be of the highest calibre with this bitter wee history revision coming as a direct result by the looks of it.
But you be the judge:
”The huge financial gulf (a subject Celtic only like talking about when they’ve been horsed in Europe) made the gloating at the end of the Betfred Cup Final even more unsavoury.” wrote Sunsport artivle.
”With Celtic enjoying SIX times the budget of Aberdeen, it was like Frank Sinatra getting it right up the rest of the singers after winning a karaoke contest in the Horseshoe Bar.
Pumped by the Champions League cannon fodder of AEK Athens, I imagined it would be a long time before the Celtic players even THOUGHT about goading their opponents.”
So let this be a lesson to Celtic players the next trophy you win. Don’t celebrate your achievement; you’re getting paid too much for that.
