FIFA has confirmed Celtic have netted €1.185m for their players participation in the World Cup back in the summer.
The pool of money put aside by FIFA to compensate teams across Europe for their players participation topped over £200million with Celtic getting a fraction of it.
Mikael Lustig, Dedryck Boyata, Tom Rogic and Cristian Gamboa all earned the Scottish Champions the cash windfall which is now payable to the club.
Celtic were the highest paid Scottish side from the World Cup with Aberdeen, Hibs and The Rangers all receiving money for their star’s but Celtic’s payout is more than the three clubs combined.
Boyata and Belgium were third placed finished and helped tip the figure over the million pound mark by being involved in the competition towards the end.
Gamboa and Rogic bowed out in the group stage with their countries and Lustig for into the knockouts with Sweden.
It’s not a massive pay day but it’s still a large sum of money which can be invested back into the club.
