Rodgers Clear on Who’s to Blame for Early Season Slump

BRENDAN RODGERS has taken full responsibility for Celtic’s two defeats in the SPFL this season.

Speaking ahead of their League Cup match against St Johnstone on Wednesday the Celtic manager proclaimed the bhoys are in need of more variety in their play which is down to him.

The Irishman also admits he may have made too many changes in both instances as he looked to freshen up his side after European games.

The Celtic manager knows he’s short in areas and that’s why he tried his best to procure players in the transfer window – unsuccessfully.

However, Rodgers admits he’s happy with the response in training after the Kilmarnock game and believes they are all working towards the same goal.

“At the moment we’re maybe short on our variety of play. But it’s my responsibility to take the team back to that.

“I told the players I’ve been so impressed with level of intensity in training. It doesn’t guarantee results but it gives you a great chance.”

“I take full responsibility for our 2 defeats. I made big changes for those games. Perhaps I made too many.”

A win against Tommy Wrights side would be the perfect tonic heading into a big game with Aberdeen at home this Saturday.

The Dons won at Celtic Park on the final day of last season and the bhoys will need to be on their toes.
