SCOTT BAIN will find out how much Brendan Rodgers rates him on Sunday when the team sheet is read out to the players ahead of their match against Hamilton.

The 26-year-old had a run of three games between the sticks and looked as if he was ready to close out the season as Celtic’s number one.

The match against Dundee, however, has thrown a spanner in the works for the goalkeeper.

With Bain ineligible on Wednesday evening, Craig Gordon, fresh off an injury came back into the side and earned his 100th clean sheet in 200 games for the club.

In doing so, he has played himself back into the team and will more than likely expect to be the goalkeeper that finishes the season. That is unless Brendan Rodgers sees a big Celtic future for Bain.

Sunday will tell us what we want to know. Is Brendan so high on Bain’s ability that he’s willing to sacrifice his number one to give the loan star a shot? The Celtic manager has been adamant he would like Bain to sign with Celtic on a full time basis come the summer but under what job description?

At the age of 26 Bain will want to be playing as much as he can and if he feels he’s being cast as a supporting player rather than the main act, it could sour any sort of deal on the table.

I think Bain knew it was a longshot to come in and dethrone Dorus de Vries never mind Craig Gordon but having got the opportunity and the taste for what could be, he’ll be chomping at the bit for more, and less likely to be happy for a place on the bench.

I’ll be sure to look out for the team sheet come Sunday and see what the manager is thinking. It’s certain that whoever starts the Hamilton match will be the goalkeeper who starts the semi final.
