BRENDAN RODGERS was in no mood yesterday for mindless speculation, especially when it came to questions about his defenders and potential replacements.

After asking the media ‘How many defenders do you think we need?’ pointing out he has four centre back to choose from the Irishman was then asked about a bid made for Beşiktaş defender Duško Tošić.

Brendan Replied: “First I’ve heard of it”.

There were reports in Turkey that Celtic had shown an interest in the 32-year-old who turns 33 in the next couple of days, and had even lodged a bid.

That rumour has been put to bed quickly by the Celtic manager.
