Euro Dream Still Alive and Kicking

CELTIC may have been taught a lesson by a good Bayern side last night, but they remain on course for their ultimate goal – Euro football after Christmas.

Hopes were high that Celtic could try and hold the Germans to a draw last night but they never really got going until the final 15 minutes of the game.

With Anderlecht falling to a rampant PSG in Belgium last night then Celtic’s destiny is in its own hands.

With Jozo Simunovic hopefully back and Dembele likely to be preferred for the reverse fixture against Bayern, it gives us some hope. Our trip to France is a frightening thought, but we must go there with a positive mindset. The big game will come at Celtic Park when Anderlecht come to town; it could end up a ‘winner takes all’ scenario on the night should results keep true in the group.

All is certainly not lost, and we must take stock of the things we can do better. It’s hard to gauge how good you can play until you come up against quality opposition and we were found wanting doing some of the fundamentals. We must strive to do the basics correct and build from a place of strength; the manager will know this all too well.

On the bright side, there’s not too much time to dwell on the game with Celtic are back in action on Saturday in the Semi-Final of the League Cup.
