KRIS COMMONS has cut an isolated figure at Celtic Park this season.
Since Brendan Rodgers came in the midfielder was quickly identified by the Irishman as not of the necessary standard going forward. Given how the season has panned out it’s difficult to disagree with the manager.

Rodgers wants mobility and pace from his attacking midfielders and Kris has never been overly gifted in that department. Nonetheless, overall, Kris has been an absolute, unmitigated success since coming to Celtic.
It was his goals and drive that ensured Neil Lennon would not come up short when his strikers failed to deliver. It was Kris who lead a flat team kicking and screaming through many games scoring 27 goals from 34 games that season. At 350k for his transfer from Derby, I think we’ve got more than our monies worth.
The player and his family have integrated into the club in a massive way and it shows how much they care about the Celtic cause, even when Kris isn’t a direct part of it.

Some may point to the midfielders petulance in the Europa League with Ronny Deila as leaving a bad taste in the mouth but that night the player was, in fact, speaking for every frustrated supporter; like it or not.
With all things considered I hope that the Celtic manager recognises the service Kris has gave this club and rewards him with a short outing in the coming weeks. Even a cameo on the last day of the season before he rides off into the sunset. Bringing him on as a substitute against Hearts would raise the roof of the place and be a nice moment for the player and fans.
It remains to be seen if Rodgers will take this approach. Ultimately, the Irishman has no obligation to Kris but you wonder if he’ll let him have his moment.
