Sebastian Tounekti looks set to remain a Hammarby player until at least the end of the year, despite Celtic’s attempts to bring the winger to Glasgow before the transfer window closes.
Celtic had returned with an improved offer worth £4.7 million, made up of £3.9m up front and £800k in add-ons, but the bid was knocked back.
Journalist Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports confirmed the latest development, with Hammarby reportedly holding out for more than £5 million, and crucially, a larger portion of the fee up front.
Speaking earlier, Hammarby sporting director Mikael Hjelmberg confirmed that while discussions with Celtic had taken place, the club’s stance had not changed. Ultimately ending speculation of a late move.
Celtic’s interest in Tounekti has been no secret, with the player reportedly keen on the switch and viewing the opportunity as an exciting step forward.

However, with Hammarby unwilling to budge and the clock ticking, the deal now looks dead.
Unless something dramatic changes in the final hours, Tounekti will not be part of Brendan Rodgers’ squad, leaving Celtic to explore alternative options as deadline day approaches.
