Brendan Rodgers has spoken again about Celtic’s lack of signings, giving another measured response after the 0-0 draw with Kairat Almaty.
Rodgers accepted the responsibility that comes with the job but also hinted at his frustration over the situation. His latest comments come as questions continue to be asked about how the club is handling transfers during such an important period.
Fans have made their feelings clear, and Rodgers’ words will only add to the sense that he’s being left to deal with the consequences without proper support. He chose his words carefully, but the message was clear, the squad hasn’t been improved, and that’s not something he can fix on his own.
Still, Rodgers said he’s proud to lead the team and will keep speaking on behalf of the club, even if he can’t be fully open about what’s really going on.
He said: (RecordSport), ”I accept the responsibility as the manager of the club.
”I can’t tell you anything which I would like to, but there’s only so many ways I can dress up that we haven’t got any players in.
“But I accept responsibility to stand here and tell you where we’re at.
”The privilege is mine to be here. If it’s my role to do that, then of course I will do that.”
Rodgers spoke calmly, but his message was clear for anyone listening. The lack of updates on transfers has left him to face the media while the team is still short of the quality needed to compete at the top level.
When he said he “can’t tell you anything,” it sounded like there’s more happening behind the scenes that he’s not allowed to talk about. His quiet frustration showed the pressure is being felt not just by the players, but also at the top of the club.

Celtic’s hopes of reaching the Champions League now depend on getting a result in Kazakhstan, with a £40 million prize at stake. It’s a huge moment, and going into it without new signings makes it even more difficult.
Right now, Rodgers is the one speaking for the club, taking responsibility, and feeling the pressure, but he made sure people know he’s not in charge of signing players.
