Celtic Defender Signs Long-Term Deal

Celtic have confirmed that Dane Murray has committed his long-term future to the club, signing a new three-year deal that keeps him at Parkhead until the summer of 2028.

The announcement comes just ahead of Celtic’s League Cup clash with Falkirk tonight, with Brendan Rodgers praising the young defender’s progression in recent months.

Murray, 22, has been with the Hoops since his youth days and made his senior debut under Ange Postecoglou during the 2021/22 campaign. While injuries have disrupted parts of his development, his performances at B team and training level have continued to impress the current coaching staff.

Brendan Rodgers said: “I know there is so much more to come from him and I believe he can have a really successful future with us.

”He has a brilliant attitude to the game and is great team‑mate within our squad. He is very deserving of this new contract and I am delighted for him.”

The new contract extends Murray’s stay at the club by a further two years beyond his previous agreement, which was set to expire in 2026. That deal had only been signed last May, but his progress in the last year has clearly accelerated talks.

Speaking after putting pen to paper, Murray shared his delight at remaining with the Scottish champions.

“I’m just excited and really looking forward to the future. Pre‑season has been really good and I’ve really enjoyed every minute of it,” he said: (Celtic FC).

With Celtic competing across four fronts this season and squad depth under constant review, Murray’s continued development will be watched closely by fans and coaching staff alike. While he’s yet to cement a regular first-team spot, the club’s decision to offer him a new deal suggests real belief in his potential to play a bigger role in the coming seasons.
